Consider these 4 Tips when Tracking Positive Behaviors.

ree

Keeping track of positive behaviors can be challenging when there are multiple behaviors that you are attempting to track. Especially when negative, unhelpful, and non-compliant behaviors take center stage. After utilizing effective directions, how do you keep track of the great work that you observe form your kiddos while you're out and about. Here are some things to consider when setting up and using your encouragement system in real time.

  1. Use of effective directions. "Name, do X now, please."

  2. Use of tokens. Tokens need to be immediate, tangible, portable, and fun!

  3. Some Considerations. Make sure you are aware of your child's age and developmental abilities, skill levels, setting and environment, behaviors given the situation, and what will motivate the child.

  4. Special Circumstance. With siblings, attempt team work and have them get together and win incentives through collaboration.

REMEMBER: It takes time for these things to become routine! Give yourself grace and reassurance that the fact that you are even reading this blog post says something about your willingness to reflect and do different!
